1878 — Journey from Sukkur to Shikarpur by Bullock Cart! 🐂✨
This was the time when there were no motor cars, and railway tracks had not yet reached everywhere.
The bullock cart that traveled between Sukkur and Shikarpur was considered a luxury transport of that era. 🚃
The service was owned and managed by an Englishman. The famous traveler and writer Richard Burton wrote in his book:
“I have traveled many times on this bullock cart. The journey was very comfortable and peaceful. The fare was only five paisas. It left Sukkur at 9 p.m. and reached Shikarpur by 7 a.m.
💫 In those days, wealthy and respectable families used to travel in this cart.
There were special arrangements for women’s privacy, and whenever the bullock cart passed by, people would stop and watch it with admiration.
This picture reminds us of that time of simplicity, peace, and grace — when travel was an experience, not a race. 🌿
