Electric space heater vs. turning gas central air heater up
I live in a small 3 bedroom house, with one badroom in the basement. We leave the thermostat at 70F and the upstairs is fine with that during the winter, but the basement only gets up to 64F with that set up.
Would running a 1500W space heater in the basement bedroom to bring it up to at least 68F 8 hours a day (it doesn't need to be on constantly to keep that temperature, maybe 50-60% of the time) be more or less expensive than turning the thermostat up another 4 degrees to 74F to try and get the basement a little warmer?
