The effect of "The bronze statue of writer"
Some context to better understand what I mean.
I'm from Ukraine (but that's not the main thing), and here we have Shevchenko, our leading poet, who is considered the greatest Ukrainian writer and cultural figure, and this is a problem, because our educational program presents him as a person who wrote, lived, fought, suffered and of course died for our nation and country. This is such a huge problem that he is becoming more and more uninteresting to people, especially the younger generation (like me) and everything he writes becomes boring. Many of his works vividly express patriotic feelings, such as longing for the native land, etc., sometimes there are poems that cannot be attributed to civic lyrics, but due to his representation in society, no one can perceive even them as non-civic lyrics . Shevchenko, for me personally as well as for many other Ukrainians, has become a bronze statue that we should worship.
So my question is, do other countries also have a cult of this "bronze statue" that certain writers have been turned into? That is, don't the English feel this way to a certain extent towards Shakespeare or Byron or the Germans towards Goethe, for example?
