Not mentioned until now... I collected antique maps and prints for 16 years, then became a map, print and antiquarian book dealer. Tooled, leather bindings are works of art and, combined with the contents, very important pieces of social history.
A trade-perspective is that men drool over such items but their spouses regard them as decor. A fellow dealer, who had retail premises, often witnessed disagreements. 😱😢

As a former librarian, I appreciate the fact that someone still provides such a service! Being old fashioned, my preference for a REAL book I touch, hold and smell is preferable over a Kindle. Thank you for sharing such an interesting video of what is becoming a lost art. Some of the book covers from days gone by are works of art themselves....

A woman with a unique profession and i like the way she uses different tools and that way not only preserves books but also the tools and techniques!
This lady really is a national treasure, her expertise and dedication to her chosen profession in her 30 plus years speaks "volumes" pardon the pun ~ I love old books and artifacts ~ Especially 1st editions ~ I collect them ~ Just the smell of the old parchment is enough to transend the book enthusiast and collector back in time to a differenr era ~ Before the World was a smaller place, there was no plastic bottles and plastic bags and less pollution because of this ~ internet and all its trappings, life was very different and taken at as slower pace, people appreciated and loved receiving and writing letters to each other as a way of communication ~ Even now relationships can be broken or terminated electronically ~ By email, or by text ~ Fax was a way of sending an important document to verify a sale or acknowledgment of receipt ~ Modern day entrepreneurs would not know what a Fax was ? My illustration is of {Mrs} Beetons Cookery Book ~ Which was given to my Grand Aunt that I recovered and had it restored and re-bound to its former glory. ~

This lady restores a 100-year-old book with such love and expertise that I am at a loss for words.

Wow, she's a handy book fixer. You can see that she graduated from a very good school and uses many interesting tools to repair books. I liked that she could write on the inside spine of the book that she repaired the book.
