Burnout Hi all! Recently, my photography business has been…

Burnout

Hi all! Recently, my photography business has been growing quite a bit. Ive gotten some higher paying clients which is amazing, but does come with a lot more pressure.

The problem is, every time I get a new idea, learn a new style of editing, a new client, marketing strategy, etc. I get reallyyyy obsessive over my work and will think and work on it nonstop for days to weeks. Then I get so terribly burnt out that I can’t touch my computer for days. It’s also usually because my ideas didn’t end up panning out the way I’d hoped. I think this does also have something to do with my adhd that’s being treated, but it still hasn’t completely gone away.

I’m starting to think that it might just be in the nature of the job. Im starting to get weary of trying to be multiple people at once, a social media manager, accountant, marketer, and a photographer (which usually comes last). Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love photography. But, I think that I’m getting tired of every day feeling the same stress to keep pressure on all of these things 24/7 otherwise my business won’t be successful.

And for context, I’m freshly 20 years old. I’ve been doing this for about 3 years. I also decided to not go to college and instead use my savings to invest in education from other photographers. I’ve even been lucky to get to travel across the country and learn from some of the best in my niche. I’m still very sure that I love photography, and I do have big dreams for my business. I’m also very dug into my niche and feel like it’s the right pick for me.

It’s not that I’m unhappy with any of that. I think I’m just getting weary of doing so much and not seeing the results I’d like in my business. I understand that’s the entire nature of running and starting a business, but at the same time it gets frustrating for me and I get sick of everything quickly nowadays. Is this common for other photographers who have this as a full time job? Do you have any strategies to help with burnout?

TIA!
