💰 A rogue developer allegedly conducted a rug pull on decentralized exchange (DEX) Merlin, causing the loss of nearly $2 million in user funds. 🔍 CertiK, a blockchain audit firm, is investigating the incident and plans to compensate affected users.
A rug pull is an exit scam in which the perpetrators create a new token, launch a liquidity pool, and pair it with a base token such as ether or a stablecoin.
👨‍💼🌍 CertiK is working with law enforcement authorities to track down the rogue developers, who are suspected to be based in Europe.
💻 The rogue developer is urged to return 80% of the stolen funds and accept a 20% white-hat bounty.
Despite Merlin touting an audit by CertiK, it was exploited for over $1.8 million in a public sale of its tokens.
