The twinkling lights, the scent of pine, and the joyous carols – Christmas is a time for reflection, connection, and giving. It's a time to pause, to cherish the loved ones who make up our world, and to celebrate the spirit of generosity that binds us together. For me, Christmas is a chance to embrace the warmth of community, to share laughter and stories with loved ones, and to find solace in the simple act of giving. It's a reminder of the importance of empathy and compassion, a beacon of hope that shines brightly in the darkest days of the year. 💝💖
The build-up to Christmas generally initiates in the third or final week of November. This includes adorning the house with exhilarating lights and aesthetic ornaments. It's a norm to maintain a respectful gap of a few weeks post the All Souls Day and All Saints Day, dedicating the initial weeks to these observances untouched by the Christmas decorations.
Gift shopping is another delightful, albeit draining part of the preparation. Being a godparent to several youngsters, every December turns out to be somewhat heavy on my pocket. For this year, I have chosen an online platform for purchasing gifts for my godchildren instead of the traditional mall-visits. Rather proactively, I even embarked on my seasonal purchases in September to allow myself a hassle-free schedule.
I anticipate procuring candies by the second week of December. On the 24th, the entire day is spent in food preparation and setting up for the night. Christmas Eve is reserved for family time at home, indulging in the feast of our efforts. If an evening Church visit does not take place, I ensure to attend the Holy Mass on the morning of Christmas Day. Godchildren visit our home to receive their presents as always and local children come around for candies and chocolates. 🎁🍬🍫
While we don't have any unique family traditions, the sound of children singing carols and the laughter of friends and family gathered around our table have become a cherished part of our Christmas celebrations. The food is always a highlight, a delicious blend of tradition and personal favorites. While New Year's Eve often features a more elaborate spread, Christmas dinner always includes a selection of favorites – spaghetti 🍝 , succulent meats 🍖🥩, and chicken 🍗, followed by delectable desserts like cake 🍰 , fruit salad , and ice cream 🍨. These culinary delights add a touch of festivity to every bite.
Your Christmas celebration sounds amazing. The joy of gathering with family and friends, exchanging gifts and reflecting on the values of patience and compassion really shines through. Thank you for sharing your insights😇
