PrevenTRON, an international Phase III trial, has begun screening people without memory problems to test whether Roche’s investigational drug trontinemab can delay symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease. 🧠
The study plans to enrol about 1,600 people aged 55 to 80 who are cognitively unimpaired but whose p-tau217 blood-test results indicate a high risk of progression.
Participants who meet the criteria will be randomly assigned to trontinemab or placebo and monitored for signs of cognitive decline. The registry’s primary measure is time to clinical progression.
The trial is expected to run for roughly four to six years, with estimated completion in 2032. Its results will determine whether amyloid-targeting treatment can prevent symptoms rather than only treat people after they appear. ⏳
