🚨 At least eight people were confirmed dead and 18 or 19 remained missing after the ferry FILOJET capsized shortly after leaving Kyrenia in northern Cyprus for Taşucu, Turkey.
The double-hulled vessel had 267 people aboard, including eight crew members. Authorities said 241 people were rescued from the overturned hull by coastguard and passing vessels.
The ferry later settled on the seabed more than 500 metres down, complicating the search. Turkish divers joined the rescue effort, while the captain and crew were detained for questioning. 🌊
