The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) is a facility located in Morong, Bataan, Philippines. It was constructed during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos in response to the 1970s global oil crisis, which spurred the need for alternative energy sources in the country. Completed in 1984, the plant was designed to generate 620 megawatts of electricity using nuclear fission. However, despite its completion, the BNPP has never been operational due to a combination of factors, including safety concerns, political issues, and changes in leadership.
