First track day - damn near sold my bike

I’ve been riding for about five months, so not very long at all. I started on a 390 and traded for a tuono 660 factory about two months ago. I love my bike…

So, I thought “I’m pretty okay at street riding—let’s test the track out.” Really I wanted to learn the skills of safe riding early on. I went to the track two days, both days nonstop raining. Track had a fair amount of puddles.

Even in the slowest group, I was the slowest rider. I didn’t crash, so that’s a plus. But the track weekend was absolutely defeating. I had maybe 3 relatively fun/comfortable sessions out of 13. I’m pretty sure I was the newest rider on the track that weekend. But it’s still tough to be the last guy.

Half of me thought I should sell the bike, the other half thought I should seek training opportunities immediately and try to improve.

Anyway, I’m wondering whether anyone else here has had this experience, and how they trained or worked to get better. I’ve become obsessed with riding and would much prefer to improve.
