Ever since I was eight, I always enjoyed reading about fables. Those beautiful stories have inspired me to create some of my own. Here is my first fable that I decided to write on page one of my story journal many years ago. It's a simple one, but it has always had a special place in my memories.
"The sound of rain pattered on the leaves of a large acacia tree in a dense forest. The tree and the flowering plants that sprouted around it were home to a snake, a toad, and a dragonfly. They were all friends and lived in peace. The snake was known for its cunningness, the toad for its wisdom, and the dragonfly for its agility.
One day, the king of the forest announced a special prize for the animal who would make the most beautiful and unique crown for him. All the animals started working hard to impress the king, except for the snake.
The snake thought that there was no need to work hard as it was naturally gifted with shimmery skin that would be perfect for the crown. The toad worked hard day and night to come up with an extraordinary design for the crown, whereas the dragonfly collected the finest gems from the forest to decorate it.
When the day of the contest arrived, the snake turned up with its plain and dull skin, while the toad and dragonfly presented their stunning creation. The king was awestruck by the toad's and dragonfly's efforts and declared them as winners.
The snake was saddened by the fact that it lost the contest because of its laziness. Upon realizing its mistake, the snake apologized to its friends and asked them for guidance.
The toad and dragonfly taught the snake the importance of hard work and effort. They worked together to create a beautiful crown for the king.
The king was impressed once again and praised the snake for its efforts. The moral of the story is that hard work pays off, and it is always better to put in the effort than wait for miracles to happen."
