Too Many Bones – House rules to ease difficulty for 2 players
I’ve often read that *Too Many Bones* difficulty roughly scales like **2 players > 1 = 3 > 4**, and playing exclusively 2-player with my girlfriend, that definitely matches our experience.
We’re new to the game and not comfortable controlling multiple Gearlocs each. Right now, the 2-player difficulty feels very punishing and makes it hard for us to really get into the game. So I wanted to ask:
**Are there any well-established house rules that slightly ease the difficulty for 2 players (especially beginners), without removing tension or trivializing the game?**
Some ideas we were considering:
* **A)** Calculating Battle Queue based on progress points instead of days? * **B)** One “survival/revive” token per Gearloc (a killing blow leaves them at 1 HP instead)? * **C)** At game start, reveal 3 items; each Gearloc takes one, the third is discarded?
Any thoughts on those ideas or better / more common approaches for 2-player games? #games source
