The European Broadcasting Union and Bulgarian public broadcaster BNT announced the choice on August 13, 2026. Burgas was selected ahead of Sofia after Bulgaria's first Eurovision victory in 2026, won by Dara with “Bangaranga.”
The Black Sea port city will host Bulgaria's first edition of the contest. BNT, the EBU and Burgas now face the joint task of organising the live shows and related events.
