Overplayed classics 90s edition: what's your "OMG I never want to hear that song again" choice from the 90s.
Note: I'm not talking about songs you just don't like.
So awhile ago I did a classic rock https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2a9dQiJtaakjysQ2P7rE9m?si=a1d09cae0b18454a playlist where I did my best to remove all the overplayed classics (Stairway to Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hotel California) and replace them with lesser known radio tracks or deep cuts. The goal was to make a list that would familiarize a younger listener with all the classic groups *and* act as a fresher playlist for someone who grew up with classic rock but are tired of hearing the same songs over and over again. I also hoped to showcase some of the artists you might think you hate but might change your mind after hearing something other than just the same one or two songs over and over again. Plus a ton of forgotten one hit wonders and songs you probably haven't heard in decades.
I'm considering giving the 90s the same treatment (it's an insane amount of work). So what, in your opinion, would be the 90s version of Stairway? I'm thinking like Pearl Jam's Jeremy. Good song, but the radio played it to death.
What 90s songs did you think were great initially, but got ruined for you through over exposure? And if you disagree with someone's choice, feel free to and give your strongest argument to why that song should be included. source
