What's that one game you love but can never get to the table?
We all have that one "shelf of shame" resident, the game you bought because the art was stunning, the mechanics looked brilliant, or you just knew it was your perfect game. But for some reason, it just sits there.
Maybe it’s too heavy for your casual group, the setup takes longer than the actual gameplay, or it requires exactly four players and you usually only have three.
For me, it’s Spirit Island. I adore the theme and the complexity, but every time my group meets, we end up gravitating toward something lighter like Cascadia or Azul because nobody wants to melt their brain after a long workday.
