Phil and Penny Knight have committed $1 billion to the University of Oregon to establish the Knight College of Engineering. 🏫
The college is planned for the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact in Eugene, the site created and expanded through the couple’s earlier $500 million commitments in 2016 and 2021.
University officials said the college is intended to educate engineers and applied scientists, including in bioengineering, while attracting faculty and researchers and helping move discoveries into practical products, therapies and technologies.
The pledge is the Knights’ third commitment at that scale in a decade. Reporting did not establish a timetable, academic structure or opening date for the new college. 💡
