Why do some songs get stuck in your head and wont stop playing on repeat?
It happens to me all the time. Ill hear a catchy tune once, and then for the next few days, that chorus or melody just loops endlessly in my brain, even if I dont particularly like the song. Sometimes its a jingle from an old commercial or a random pop hit from years ago that pops up out of nowhere.
Is there a scientific reason why certain songs become earworms like this? Does it have to do with the rhythm, lyrics, or something about how our brains process music? And is there a reliable way to get them out of your head, like listening to another song or chewing gum? Ive tried humming the end of the song to complete it, but it doesnt always work. Curious if this is universal or if some people are immune.
