My entry to Ma'am
I choose Christmas because it instill my childhood memories to this special holiday of the year.
I felt so excited everytime when it's December month because I can look forward the gatherings of the family the excitement and joy of everyone preparing for Christmas.
I'm remembered vividly when it's time to prepare the dishes my late uncle would play a vinyl music Born Free and it's not a Christmas song from where everyone was busy cleaning the the house. Me just watching them I was still small from that time. And still remembered I was taking my breakfast from the table where everyone keeps busy for later celebration. My late mother kept on saying to me to sleep early at around 5 pm for I'll woke up later at 11 pm to witness the celebration, so as a child I'm trying to follow what mother said but I can't sleep because I'm too excited for later. I want to go out from the bedroom but mother will scolded me. So I forced myself to sleep until I did. And when woke up it's earlier around 10 pm. But I enjoyed seeing everyone keeps busy and there's a lot of foods in the table
It's our family tradition every Christmas or any celebration my grandma will make pancit molo balls she made the ingredients herself I mean home made and I was thought to wrapped the molo balls after that, my grandma will let it dry under the sun.
It's a local delicacy from our place pancit molo it's like a dimsum balls with a soup.
A simple dish but that food I really missed no one from the family ever cooked that nowadays.
My aunt is already that old she's 96 I think.
But there were times I took for granted because I'm already my teen years they cooked pancit molo and I didn't ate immediately and when I checked to ate there's no more. Everyone finished it and asking them I haven't ate pancit molo they thought I've already eaten. I can still eat that this days but the love and warmth from the family who prepared is what I really missed.
When I heard Christmas it's automatically my childhood. I remembered my aunt will gave a small package of gifts to the kids neighborhood like fruit juice, apple and some biscuits. As a child I'm happy and proud that my aunt will gave something to the neighborhood.
The day Christmas means to me is love, love for the family specially.
We prepared that someone will visit later at home we, clean the house everyone is busy with each chores. And cooks the special dishes for later Christmas.
We went to church to attend the mass before midnight.
We had two special dishes the pancit molo and the macaroni salad a simple macaroni salad with pineapple, raisins, sandwich spread, mayonnaise and cheese from that simple macaroni salad the celebration is complete already. And I enjoyed inviting my friends to eat the dishes for the celebration I served them too and we enjoyed talking from the table.
