Can someone please walk me through the mind of a slacker employee? I know work isnt everything but damn, why are they so comfortable allowing others to pick up the slack?
I work at a college. I have a coworker who is cool to chat with in the office but is a long tenure slacker who managed to fight off termination. I like the company but the its getting ridiculous. The man half asses, BS, every task and because we have the same job (hes senior) it impacts me. I was hoping to learn from him when i got the role but he has too many bad traits as an employee. Although i havent explicitly discussed it, I know my manager knows but what can she can she do? Shes a pushover that rather give work to me. Ive already started trying to pull back on my own production to balance but unless im willing to be like him, its always going to fall on me. Im going to start looking elsewhere. Its a shame. I wish i could fix it without quitting but i cant. Its one thing to "act your wage" and another to just be so careless that it impacts others.
Can any of you take me through the mind of a slacker? lol source
