Am I wrong for feeling weird about being introduced to someone's boyfriend?
Need some outside perspective because this situation left me feeling like an absolute clown for a few hours 😭
I made a dating post recently and ended up talking to a guy around my age. We got along well and became friendly pretty quickly. At some point he told me he knew someone who might be a good match for me and offered to introduce us.
Naturally, I assumed everyone involved was single.
He spoke very highly of this guy and I'll admit I started feeling hopeful. Not in a "planning our future together" way, but more in a "okay, maybe this person could actually be worth getting to know" way.
Then today he tells me that the guy he was introducing me to is actually his boyfriend.
Apparently they've been having issues for weeks and he felt that his boyfriend needed someone more mature who could provide things in a relationship that he wasn't able to provide. His idea was basically to introduce us and then step out of the picture.
Now his boyfriend apparently wants time and isn't sure about any of this anymore.
The thing is, I'm not even upset that the guy was unavailable. What bothered me was being put into this situation without knowing the full context. I would've never agreed to get involved if I knew I was essentially being introduced to someone's current partner.
It made me feel less like a person and more like a potential solution to somebody else's relationship problems.
The friend eventually told me the truth, which I appreciate, and I don't think he had bad intentions. If anything, I think he was trying to help in a very naive way.
But am I wrong for feeling weird about this? Because the whole thing left me thinking: why would anyone assume a stranger would be comfortable being set up with someone who is already in a relationship?
Curious how other people would react in this situation because I genuinely don't know if I'm overthinking it. #lifestyle source
