Humanoid assistant robots and their presence in our everyday lives.
Today I was watching some videos of the World Humanoid Robot Games taking place in Beijing and I couldn't help to think where are we going with this technology, and I'm not talking about a robotic apocalypse or something like that, let's analyse this subject believing humans can do better.
Every time I see something like this, I can only think about military applications because it's the most profitable way to keep developing these startups/companies, but as the internet was one day only a militaristic implementation, today we can enjoy —in a best or worse way— of it, so, I was wondering if this technology will be available for average people some day and in which form.
I'm obviously being influenced by all scifi books and movies I've read and watched in my life and I can think of course about having humanoid assistant robots that can perform almost every task we need or we don't want to do, so, where would that leave us? They would be for billionaires first? They would be used for space exploration? They could replace us at some point where we can live a life without worries or it's just an illusion? Are we that far of it or we're already in the process?
I'd like to hear your opinions about it.
