Airflow issue in SUV trunk — struggling to cool it for dogs
Hi everyone,
I have a Nissan X-Trail T31 (SUV). I transport two dogs (a dachshund and a beagle), and they stay in the trunk/cargo area.
The problem is airflow — the rear AC vents are only for rear passengers’ feet, and almost no cool air reaches the trunk area.
I’m looking for a practical way to extend or improve airflow into the cargo space.
Ideally I want:
* Better cooling in the trunk during summer * Safe setup for dogs (no loose dangerous parts) * Something DIY or semi-permanent is fine
What I’m considering:
* ducting air from rear vents into the cargo area * adding a 12V fan for circulation * or any other proven setup people use in SUVs for pets or camping
I already tried a 12V fan, but it moves very little air and isn’t enough — my beagle especially needs strong, consistent airflow during hot weather.
Has anyone done something similar in an SUV like the X-Trail or similar vehicles? What actually works in real life without killing AC efficiency?
