• The history of Sumeria covers the fifth to the third millennium a. C. in southern Mesopotamia, and is believed to include the prehistoric Ubaid and Uruk periods. Sumeria was the oldest known civilization in the region and ended with the fall of the Third Dynasty of Ur around 2004 B.C
