Tesla launched the cybercab and stock dropped 6% next day. this is literally the third time this has happened to them
The pattern is too consistent atp, tesla announces something then stock pops on anticipation and when product launches, the stock drops because the reality creates more questions than the narrative answered.
Cybercab launched thurs in austin with fanfare, elon on stage and the whole thing. and next day the stock dropped more than 6% which is worst day since july 23 when it fell 15%. Wall street analysts came out with notes saying the launch left them with more questions than answers because theres no clear timeline on full autonomous rollout,no pricing clarity and also no definitive answer on the regulatory path that gets robotaxis operating at scale across multiple states.
And the same thing happened during semi launch, optimus reveal and basically every major tesla product moment for the last 3 years. The anticipation works until the product is real and when the product is real suddenly the gap between the vision and the timeline becomes visible.
And this isnt a bearish signal long term because tesla's products are real, the cybercab exists and autonomous driving is closer than most legacy automakers are willing to admit publicly. Thee ques is always whether the timeline the stock price implies matches the timeline the technology delivers on.
At current valuations tesla needs the robotaxi business to be generating meaningful revenue within 18-24 months.
Do y'all think the cybercab launch is an inflection point ? #business
