Woke up early to go volunteer, closed trunk and window shattered

I literally have no idea what happened. I’m in SoCal, it’s not cold I’m wearing a sweater. I woke up at 5 am to go volunteer and grabbed a hoodie from the trunk, closed it like i always do, and then the front passenger side window just shattered. I just turned around and went back home.
