What is your unpopular opinion on/for Singapore's election/political system?

Now that GE is coming, I figured it'll be interesting to know about the unpopular opinions on the system, either elections or political system.

For me, I think MP should be a full time job. I understand the whole point of MPs being part time for Minister is so that they can be on the ground, but if they're so busy with being a minister, and not even dedicating for their MP duties, while still taking a MP allowance, they should either decide to be a minister or an MP.

Another I feel is that the rally period should be longer in Singapore, with MORE TELEVISED DEBATES on TV. Hell, do it where participants can be involved and not in some recording studio with a moderator asking questions. Let the people ask the questions. Candidates need to be put in the hot seat.

Mayors should just be MP but I don't think this is a very unpopular opinion.

Now to help you to get the ball rolling, I asked chatgpt on some unpopular opinions on it:

On Elections:

-"Singapore should remove the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) scheme."

-"We should have a fully appointed Parliament instead of elections."

- "Singapore should introduce term limits for the Prime Minister and MPs."

-"Election rallies should be banned because they don't contribute to meaningful discourse."

-"Electronic voting should replace paper ballots."

-"Singapore should have a two-party system."

-"Election campaigns should have a spending cap for all parties, including the PAP."

-"By-elections should be mandatory when an MP resigns or is removed."

On the Political System:

-"One-party dominance is actually good for stability."

-"The civil service has too much influence over policymaking."

-"Opposition parties should be more pro-business instead of focusing on social issues."

-"The Speaker of Parliament should be elected by public vote, not appointed."

-"Singapore should have a minimum age limit of 40 for MPs and ministers."

-"The Prime Minister should be directly elected by the people."

-"All MPs and ministers should live in HDB flats with median-income salaries."

I asked chagpt to give some extreme examples and I died:

"Ministers should be replaced with AI-controlled robots to remove corruption and inefficiency."

The examples are so you can come up with your own unpopular opinion, people.
