Good morning, my dear friends! βοΈ Happy Thursday!
In honor of English Language Day , I have a little story for you. π
So this morning, I confidently decided to improve my English. Big mistake. I started by telling my friend, Iβm feeling under the weather, (Feeling slightly sick or unwell) and they immediately told me to get an umbrella. β
Then I said I was going to hit the books, (To start studying seriously) and they looked genuinely concerned for the safety of my textbooks. π
Things escalated quickly when I told someone I was on cloud nine (Extremely happy or excited). They asked if I needed help getting down. β
But the real disaster? I tried to explain that I βspilled the beans,β (To reveal a secret) and now three people are waiting in my kitchen for actual beans. π€£
English is a beautiful language, but also slightly suspicious. Why are we breaking ice, (Told a joke to break the ice) raining cats and dogs (Raining heavily), and calling it a βpiece of cakeβ (Very easy) when itβs clearly not cake?!
Anyway, if you see me today, just know Iβm probably βlost for wordsβ, which, ironically, means I have too many of them. π€£ English idioms are weird but wonderful once you decode them. π
Have a wonderful Thursday, my friends, may your day be as easy as pie (whatever that means)! π
