My allergist basically told me I need to get one or keep suffering through every season, so here I am. I've been looking around for a while but there's so many options and I genuinely can't tell what's worth buying vs what's just good marketing. Budget is around $150-200, could stretch a bit if something is really proven to last.
Mostly I care about two things - actually works for dust and pet dander (have a cat), and doesn't sound like a jet engine at night. I looked at a few of the HEPA ones that come up constantly in searches and some of the ones that seem popular on here, but I can't tell if the cheaper ones around $100 are just as good or if there's a real difference with the pricier stuff. The square footage thing confuses me too because my living room and bedroom are separate and I don't know if I need one for each or one bigger one.
Have people had luck with the same unit for years or do these tend to die after like 2-3 seasons? That's kind of the main thing for me, I don't want to keep replacing it every couple years. Any help appreciated #lifestyle source
