To both Continental Africans and the Diaspora: What is one "African parentism" or cultural habit you swore you would abandon, but now find yourself doing as an adult?
Whether you grew up in Abidjan, Gaborone, Bruxelles, or New York, if you were raised in an African household, there were probably certain rules or behaviors that drove you crazy as a kid.
You promised yourself, " When I have my own house, I will never do this."
Now you are an adult. Which habit crept back in?
For me: I swore I wouldn't hoard plastic bags inside other plastic bags. Yet, here I am looking at my "bag of bags" under the sink.
Also, my immediate reflex to say "Sorry" when someone else bumps into me.
