What actually happens if you reach the Oort Cloud…

What actually happens if you reach the Oort Cloud?

Everyone talks about the Oort Cloud like it’s the “edge” of the solar system, but the part that got me thinking is this:

There’s no real moment where you arrive and go “I’m out.”

At that distance, the Sun barely holds onto anything. You’re in this weird transition where the gravity of passing stars and the galaxy itself starts to compete with the Sun.

You wouldn’t see some dramatic boundary. Just a slow shift where the solar system stops being the dominant influence.

Also kind of wild that objects out there can sit undisturbed for billions of years… until something slightly nudges them and they end up as a comet in the inner solar system millions of years later.

It’s less like hitting a wall and more like drifting out of a sphere of influence.

Makes you wonder if the idea of a “solar system edge” is just something we made up to feel like things are more defined than they really are.
