What was the goal of the Government in A Clockwork Orange?
Having reread the novel, I still can’t quite decipher what the actual goal of the Government was. People online say that the Government is Authoritarian or Totalitarian however they don’t lessen civil liberties much, except in Alex’s case as he undergoes Ludovico’s Technique. Is the Government even auth/totaliarian because at the end of the book F. Alexander’s friends mention that thanks to Alex’s story of the abuse at the hand of the Government, they won’t re-elected in the next election. Thus, democracy in this fictional society is established, so how can it be said that it is auth or totalitarian.
In summary, could you guys tell me what 1) the goal of the Government is

2) If they are Authoritarian or Not (provide book examples)
