Most Experimental Novels of All-time
I've been doing a lot of digging/research into the topic recently. I'm incredibly interested in experimental novels such as:
1.) *Bottom's Dream* by Arno Schmidt
2.) *Darconville's Cat* by Alexander Theroux
3.) *Women and Men* by Joseph McElroy
So far, these three I've mentioned have been the most appealing. Of course, there are the obligatory nods we must make to the likes of James Joyce, David Markson, and a bunch of postmodernists, but, as you may be able to tell, I lean toward more rare/obscure books. Are there any experimental novels on the level of, or even more wacky than these three? If so, what are your thoughts on highly experimental literature in general? Are you fond of it or not? Do you believe there's a limit to what can/should be done with experimental novels? Let's discuss!
