A heat dome forecast for the U.S. Southwest and south-central United States could expose more than 45 million people to dangerous heat through late August and into early September. ☀️
The National Weather Service forecast highs of 100–110°F across the Southern Plains and up to 115°F in parts of the Southwest, with limited overnight cooling.
The persistent high-pressure pattern is also raising heat-illness concerns, especially for people without adequate hydration or cooling. In Deep South Texas, forecasters also cited drought, high evaporation and elevated fire-danger risks. 🔥
Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms remain possible around parts of the heat dome’s periphery. Forecasts and local heat-risk alerts may change as the pattern develops. ⛈️
