Frugal - The other side of the Fence. Don't pass up freebies
Just an anecdote. This last weekend I saw frugal from the flip side. My neighborhood had a joint yard sale as many do. I had a few items that my wife was insisting needed to go. She recommended a GotJunk kind of place to remove it. (lawnmower, powerwasher, tires, and most importantly a sectional sofa that my wife was replacing.) It was going to cost me about $125 to have this hauled away.
I put all of these things on the sidewalk with sign on each "Free Take it" with a brief statement of condition. It was less than 5 hours before the last was gone, I guy tying the sectional to the roof of a minivan. This cost me about 10 minutes time to haul it to the curb and saved me the disposal cost. People got a working lawn mower, a sectional that can be prettied up, a project gas engine and powerwasher, free for carrying them away. Win/win/win/win.
Don't underestimate the value of just walking/driving around.
