Alex Eala is heading into the final Grand Slam of the year, the 2026 US Open, with a new career high ranking of world number 18 and in doing so, she is now officially the highest ranked Southeast Asian player in WTA history since the introduction of their rankings.
Yayuk Basuki of Indonesia previously held the record with the highest ranking of world number 19 in October 1997, with Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand matching it in May 2002.
Her US Open campaign kicks off with the mixed doubles event this week, teaming alongside men's world number 4 Felix Auger-Aliassime against husband and wife, former men's world number 6 Gaël Monfils and women's world number 9 Elina Svitolina Tuesday morning in New York.
