AstraZeneca has held talks about acquiring Bristol Myers Squibb in a potential combination valued at close to $400 billion, according to reports. 💊

The discussions concern two major drugmakers with a prior business relationship: AstraZeneca bought Bristol Myers Squibb’s stake in their diabetes alliance in 2014.

The Guardian reported that no agreement is certain. It said AstraZeneca shares fell more than 7% in early London trading, while Bristol Myers Squibb shares rose 3.5% in New York pre-market trading. 📉

A combined company would bring together substantial oncology businesses. Reports said that overlap could draw close regulatory scrutiny.

Neither company announced a deal. AstraZeneca declined to comment to The Guardian, while Bristol Myers Squibb had been contacted for comment.
