How Come I Cannot See the Stars? a rant about light pollution
Rant about light pollution.
There should be a website about "enjoy it now, cuz you cannot tomorrow".
We used to go down to Manoa Stream with a can of Exchange Orangeade and a pitcher, and make juice, using the water from the stream.
We went hiking to Sacred Falls all the time because at the end of a hot hike, you swam in the Falls. On the trail, I remember looking straight up, thinking well, it must be safe, otherwise they wouldn't let us hike here.
From Kahaloa Drive, you could see the coconut trees in Waikiki. and the horizon line was the ocean.
We used to make a tent out of blankets and my cousin's old billiard cues, so we could wake up 2am to see the stars.
That's all gone.
It's 2026, and I can't even see stars because of the light pollution. And it's never going away!
Like I said, there should be a website, or a class for keiki, to tell them "enjoy it now, cause you cannot tomorrow."
