China's Great Wall Motors Flaunts Two 8-Cylinder Engines at CES, Including a Flat One
With all the EVs coming out of China, it's weird to know that Great Wall (of all companies) is building *two* eight cylinder engines. It's even wilder to see some of the info coming out of the GWM desplay at CES 2026.

Great Wall confirmed that the flat-eight isn’t intended only for motorcycles. "We can put this V-8 engine in other vehicles in the future," summed representative Shenghao Tang, at GWM's stand. "This is not just for motorcycles . . . it's for cars."

**GWM's twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 has been shown before, and it's unclear what the engine will be used for, but a premium brand is on the horizon.**
With twin turbos, four valves per cylinder, and variable valve timing, this overhead-cam V-8 will be very powerful, Great Wall representatives said, although no output numbers have been disclosed yet. It was shown on the stand connected to one of the automaker's hybrid systems, also engineered by the company itself, but it also won't confirm which product gets the V-8 first.

It reads to me like some folks at Great Wall *really* want to build 'traditional' enthusiast cars.
