A war-damaged building in Gaza City collapsed overnight, killing at least 19 people and injuring 25, the Associated Press reported. 🕯️
The building had sheltered at least six displaced families and was known to be unstable after damage from Israeli strikes earlier in the war. Gaza health officials said at least 13 women and children were among those killed.
Rescuers searched the rubble for additional victims. The collapse highlights the danger faced by people living in damaged buildings as housing alternatives remain scarce in the Gaza Strip.
The incident occurred during a ceasefire period in which reconstruction had not begun, AP reported. It renewed attention on the risks from damaged housing for displaced families. 🏚️
