1. Log in to the AWS Management Console
Log in to the AWS Management Console with your account. This is the starting point for managing all your resources, including EC2 virtual machines.
2. Select the EC2 VM
In the EC2 menu, identify the virtual machine you want to back up. Verify that it is in the desired state (for example, stopped to avoid inconsistencies).
3. Create an AMI
Choose the “Create Image” option. AWS generates an AMI (Amazon Machine Image) that contains the operating system, installed software, and configurations of your VM.
