What book/passage in a book made you realize that there are levels to language that you'll never be able to accomplish?
Apologies if the title doesn't make sense!
My example of this is when I was reading Lolita. Nabokov's ability to build tons of blink-and-you'll-miss-it motifs with mythology, all with incredibly clever word play and rhyme schemes made each sentence a work of art. I remember finishing Lolita and going "damn. i can't even understand how someone would go about writing such a work." A similar moment for me was with Toni Morrison breaking down how she wrote the first few sentences of Song of Solomon. #entertainment source
