The CA-99 in California's Central Valley hapens to be one of the darkest roads in the nation and passes through agricultural land. Night/early morning travel is to be avoided because of the fog... I could not see the road markings or beyond the end of the beam of my headlights. Luckily, other vehicles slowed down completely, so I hugged the tail lights of the car in front at about 15 mph.
If the stopping distance is "very short" because of poor visibility, I call it fog.
There was a pile-up (92+ cars and trucks) on the CA-99 because of such conditions 😱
