Backstory, my father taught me how to ride on a his Hayabusa, but I’ve never owned my own bike before. Recently I just completed the MSF course, and I’m looking to purchase my first bike cash. I followed everybody’s advice and looked for a 400-600cc bike but the dealer showed me a Yamaha R1 that he is practically giving away, and just wants gone because it’s been sitting so long. It’s 2016 R1 with 20k+ miles on it. The out the door price is so good, it’s almost a steal not to buy. It’s selling for less than 9k. Is buying a high mileage R1 as beginner a bad idea ? The bike is dirt cheap, and I’m paying cash for it. The bike also has rider modes, so I can tune to my level. #motorcycles source
