Bundesbank study: Average household wealth 325000€!
Hi. Yesterday I posted on this community and got a feeling that people think that \~300000€ assets for a household are a lot and the family is very rich. A bit of googling brought me to this study from Bundesbank which says: Mittel verfügten die Haushalte in Deutschland im Jahr 2023 über ein Nettovermögen von rund 324 800 € Translation: **On average, households in Germany had net assets of around €324,800 in 2023**
Understood that average does not matter, median number does because very rich people can skew the average. Now my question is that in a society, if there are a few very rich people who have lots of assets and have outpriced everyone, can someone even in top 10% considered rich? Because they also cannot afford most of the things due to the concentration at the top 1% or so. Yes, they are earning much more than the median. **But are they rich?** Or has the definition of rich changed in the past few years?
