How do you get better at capturing genuine human…

How do you get better at capturing genuine human moments/emotions in street photography?

Hey everyone! I’m really interested in photographing people and genuine human moments in public spaces—on the street, on the metro, in cafés, etc. One of my biggest inspirations is Billy Dinh (@billydeee on IG). I love how he captures people just *living*: laughing, working, interacting with each other, or simply existing in a space.
I’ve been trying to go out and shoot almost every day, but I’m finding it pretty difficult to consistently find and capture those kinds of moments. A lot of the time I’ll walk around for hours and either nothing seems to happen, I notice the moment too late, or I’m not in the right position when it does.

For those of you who shoot this kind of street photography, how did you get better at anticipating and capturing these moments? Do you tend to stay in one interesting location and wait for something to happen, or are you constantly walking around looking for moments? And how much of it is simply putting in enough hours until you develop an instinct for it?

For context, I’m currently using a Fujifilm X-T30 III with the 27mm f/2.8. I also own a Sony A7 IV with a 24–70mm, but I rarely take it out because the setup is too heavy for walking around all day.

If it’s helpful for giving more specific feedback, my IG is . Feel free to be critical, I’d especially appreciate examples of what I could improve when it comes to capturing moments/emotion vs what I’m doing well

Would love any advice!
