Anyone living in the midwest United States probably knows this already, but the rest of the world needs a warning. The locusts are still spreading. Don't listen to the news; they're spreading and they aren't going to stop. The publicized date of their appearance is true from what I can tell: June 6, 2025. That's 278 days. 278 days since our food disappeared. 278 days since swarms filled the sky as if attempting to disguise themselves as clouds. 278 days since we last saw the sun. When they first appeared there was constant debate over why they were here; some said it was divine punishment, a terrible rehashing of a biblical plague. Others argued in favor of countless scientific explanations, but everyone seems to have agreed it doesn't matter now. Apparently they've already spread as far as California, even if only in small numbers. Everywhere they go devastation follows them, as if the swarm is some horrid commander leading the troops of famine, pressing ever forward without hope of stopping.
This post is a real long shot. All I can do is hope it reaches the right people in the right places, but already over the course of writing this I've started to lose hope. Who's to say any of you could stop it? God knows we tried when they first appeared, and look where that got us: stuck in hastily built bunkers as that horrible noise grows louder above us. You know, they never get it right in the stories. The worst part of being in an apocalyptic scenario isn't the lost loved ones, or the lack of food, or even being stuck in one place for the rest of your miserable life. It's the noise. That horrible noise that reminds you that the world you once knew is changing so quickly above your head that by the time you see it again it won't feel like much of a home coming. If you listen closely I'm sure you'll hear plenty of things that can assure you the world still works how it should. The cars speeding down the roads, the sounds of birds chirping outside your window, even those terrible cicadas in the summer time bring a certain sense of normalcy. You all take them for granted, because if they keep spreading soon all you'll hear is that horrible buzzing. I can't even hear the wind anymore. It's just buzzing; buzzing that grows louder and louder drowning out everything to the point where the birds could all be dead for all you know. The wind could just simply stop one day, or roar on louder than it's ever been and you could never know.
I wish I could just end this by saying everything would be fine; tell you all that there's some way to stop this, but I have no clue how to stop the locusts from spreading. Build your bunkers, protect your food supply, spray it with enough poison to kill and elephant and maybe you can slow them down. Don't bother learning what they are, just figure out how to fucking kill them before it's all gone. If you read this and have any way to stop them -- do it. I beg of you. Because the locusts are still spreading, and they sure as hell won't stop. #entertainment
