My 2017 i7-6700K rig still lives! Thinking of upgrading from RX 6650 XT to RX 9060 XT — good idea or CPU bottleneck city?

Hey glorious PC gamers,

I built my system back in **2017** and it’s *still kicking*. Specs:

* **CPU:** i7-6700K (not overclocked)
* **GPU:** RX 6650 XT
* **RAM:** 16GB DDR4
* **PSU:** 650W 80+ Gold
* **Display:** 1440p
* **Headset:** Meta Quest 3 (PCVR via Link/Air Link)

Lately, I’ve been playing games like **Red Dead Redemption 2** and **Cyberpunk 2077**, and I’m starting to feel the limits of the 6650 XT — especially when it comes to **ray tracing** and **VR performance**.

I don’t play competitive shooters; I just want a smooth, visually rich 1440p experience for cinematic or open-world games. I really **don’t want to replace my CPU or motherboard** right now — too much hassle for me at the moment.

So…

* Would an **RX 9060 XT** be a meaningful upgrade for my setup?
* Will my old **i7-6700K** bottleneck it badly, especially in VR?
* Is it still worth upgrading the GPU now and doing a full rebuild later?

Thanks for any input, and praise the silicon gods for how long this old Skylake has lasted!
