The Story of a New Name - Lila's Artistic Creation
Hi all, currently reading #2 in Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan Quartet and predictably devouring it. I'm up to the point where Lila executes her vision for her bridal photo, that causes such shock amongst Rino, Stefano, et al, but I'm struggling to picture what the image would have actually looked like.
Does anyone have some art history knowledge of the period, who would be able to point towards some likely inspiration? I think Dadaism would fit the time period and description but interested to know if someone thinks otherwise.
For reference, the book describes it as: "The body of the bride Lila appeared cruelly shredded. Much of the head had disappeared, as had the stomach. There remained an eye, the hand on which the chin rested, the brilliant stain of the mouth, the diagonal stripe of the bust, the line of the crossed legs, the shoes." #entertainment
