Should I quit my job?

Hi all just wanted to kind of rant about my job and also ask for some advice on what to do.

I have been working as a Housekeeper at a wedding venue for 10 months now and since about 4/5 months in I started to absolutely hate it. At first it felt like I was gonna enjoy the job- I accepted that it was zero hour contract etc but at least I had a job because I had been looking for 8 months beforehand. Now, I have a panic attack and get myself so worked up the night before starting a shift because I just hate the atmosphere: we are severely understaffed compared to other wedding venues in the business (there’s 4 of us who are able to work any shifts and 4 other who are never available unless it’s weekends and we have just had 2 people including my manager who were unfairly fired a few weeks ago but that’s a whole other story LOL), we have no housekeeping manager anymore and have to report to the venue manager who is never in because she takes “annual leave” every week, we are worked off our arses constantly because we have to turn over 21 rooms alongside the venue constantly with only 3-4 people in per shift with a deadline (we start work at 7 and have to turn around the venue by 8:45 after a wedding and rooms by 12pm, 1pm & 2pm for staggered check in times when check out time is 10:30am), all of my coworkers are snapping at each other chatting shit about one another because someone can’t do their job right which we can’t because we are forced to rush everything, management is shocking because they can’t work out rotas properly (one time there was 2 of us to clean over half the rooms because they didn’t schedule enough people in for that day and we didn’t finish til almost 4pm which is not too bad but with no break at all is draining), we get some negative feedback from people staying in rooms because we’re unable to maintain such a high standard and management comes down on us but we literally don’t have the time to mess around checking everything, and we’re given jobs that i tell my parents that we do and they’re shocked that they allow it (one time we had to build a ladder to use in the ceremony room so we could reach the lights and change bulbs that are about 10ish metres above the floor which legally needs someone fully qualified to do because of the height). There’s honestly so much more i could rant about but i just want out. it’s physically and mentally draining me but i know it would be wrong for me to leave at such a crucial time, however i am just sick of it and everyone is so double sided.

My parents don’t agree that i should quit because i need the money but i do have a plan- i have holiday hours that need using up so i can request to get them used for julys pay id get in august, and i haven’t been paid yet so ill get paid this month too. I’m on UC as well because i was working so little hours during january and february that i met the threshold, and if i quit my job i can get myself back on that. I have been applying and applying for every job that pops up and i either get turned down or never hear back from anyone- i have had two separate occasions now where people would update me on my application to see if they sent it over to the employer and i just got ghosted basically. It’s tiring but i know id feel so much better about myself because i know I’ll be able to find a good enough job soon. I’m trying to get a new job lined up but it’s just not working out for me and it’s getting on a bit now.

Should I quit? I have an email ready to send to my manager who is (shock horror) on leave as i speak so it would be a lovely surprise for her when she gets back. I have read my contract details and I have to give a months notice, HOWEVER i am on zero hours so i technically don’t have to turn up at all during that period.

Thanks for listening i’m just so stressed rn.
